Some posts to read if you want to familiarise yourself with my views in a hurry:

Concerning politics

What I think about the concept of cultural diversity. The short version is, I hate it very, very much.

What I think about conservatism. The short version is, I hate it very, very much.

What I think about pro-lifers. The short version is, I hate them very, very much.

Yes, you can sort of see a pattern here, can't you?

Oh, and while we're at it:

A fable describing my view of mainstream liberalism. The short version is, I think there's too much mainstream and not enough liberalism.

Books I heartily recommend

The Last Family in England. Well, it's got heroic dogs in it. You've got to like heroic dogs.

The Bonehunters. High fantasy at its best.

The Handmaid's Tale. Just remember, it's a cautionary tale. Not an instruction manual. It's amazing how many people seem to make that mistake.

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Proof that I occasionally like books for the characterisation. Also that I occasionally like books that don't have evil gods or talking animals in them.

Perdido Street Station. Steam punk fantasy. With amazingly creepy monsters. What's not to like?

A Clockwork Orange. A classic, obviously. I absolutely hate the moral, but it was presented so perfectly that I have to admire the novel anyway.

Looking for Jake and other stories. A collection of very odd and very intriguing short stories.

Un Lun Dun. An example of what children's fantasy should be like.

And one author I definitely do not like...

Everything under the Rowling tag, really.
